ProtoStar Appoints Paul Froelich CFO

New Asian DTH Satellite Operator Expands Executive Staff

San Francisco, CA, January 30, 2007 - ProtoStar Ltd., a Bermuda corporation with principal U.S. operations in San Francisco, has appointed Paul Froelich as its Chief Financial Officer.

Froelich previously served as the Chief Financial Officer of WildBlue Communications, a satellite-based broadband Internet service provider. Prior to WildBlue, he was involved in infrastructure finance in Asia for an affiliate of Bechtel Enterprises. His appointment follows ProtoStar’s recent successful funding rounds which currently total over $250 million to date. The Company’s initial plan is to create a three-satellite constellation serving the fast-growing and under-served Asian direct-to-home (DTH) satellite-TV market.

“Paul brings to us a proven track record of having successfully raised a substantial amount of growth capital and having played a key role in creating a viable operating entity out of WildBlue’s original business plan concept,” said Philip Father, ProtoStar’s CEO. “His experience will be vital as ProtoStar expands its funding to support the acquisition of our second and third satellites.”

Froelich began his career with a New York-based private equity boutique, where his primary responsibilities included the structuring and financing of leveraged private-equity transactions. He holds an M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, and a B.S. in petroleum engineering from the University of Southern California.

ProtoStar expects to complete construction and launch its first satellite, ProtoStar I, in early 2008. ProtoStar I is an SS/L-manufactured FS 1300, a satellite utilized by many of today’s DTH operators. ProtoStar I and the Company’s other two satellites will be positioned in orbital slots that will provide DTH satellite coverage to South Asia, South East Asia and Indochina, an area with a population of over 3 billion.
